Not Dead…Learning Ruby

I have an excuse for not posting anything lately, I’m in love with the Pickaxe book. I’m remembering how excited I was when I started learning Python. It’s a little different with Ruby, it makes more “sense” in a way; it gels more easily in my head. Perhaps it’s the power of Ruby or an extremely well-written book. I wish there was a real Python equivalent to recommend as well, but the only one I really know of is Dive into Python, which isn’t as comprehensive. Either way, I <3 Ruby (and Python).

Oh, and then there’s Mailbag. We’ve been trying to help kickstart a new gaming blog (something meant to talk about games with a less braindead point of view). Only one problem was getting the ball rolling, no one posted anything. So, we’re trying to lower the cost of entry with Mailbag. It’s built on Ruby on Rails and it’s basically a blog that feeds on our mailing list. This way our group can get out ideas quickly in the environment of their choice (blog or email). Nothing to revolutionary, or hard about it (especially with ActionMailer), but it makes it easy for us and that’s cool. I’ll post more about it and the blog when it’s polished.
