Mmm...Ports
DarwinPorts is 1.0 Why is this important? It means easier, self-updateable open source ported goodness in an easier to digest (ie: doesn’t require CVS) package. The icing on the cake? Lighttpd is finally included. This truly is localhostin’ fun.

The Battle for Monitor Mode
Here’s a problem that caused a lot of grief and in the end had a simple solution. At the heart of Yoink!, is the network and more specifically the unleashed nature of the wireless network. In order to work it’s magic, our tools needed a reliable wifi card setup for promiscuous mode. After a few dead end cards and ancient advice, we hit gold. Orinoco Classic Gold. Just one problem. It didn’t work....

Subversion on Dreamhost
here’s a quick little guide to getting subversion up on dreamhost. i got lots of help from here and here. basically, you have to get the source, compile and install, and then create the repository. prepping your account (making a place for the subversion source) $ cd ~ $ mkdir src $ cd src getting the subversion source… and extracting it $ wget...

Regular Expressions & Ruby. Dammit!
Ok… so my first shot at Ruby. I’ve been trying to mess around with craigslist because I’ve been looking for houses, but you can’t put in any boolean logic in the keyword search (Kensington or Park Slope or Ditmas Park). So I’m trying to aggregate the results of a bunch of keyword searches (of course, I’m probably looking over a a more obvious way of doing this, but at least I get to play with...
